A. Berger Precision Ltd., a subsidiary of the globally recognized Berger Group, is redefining what it means to be a high-performance manufacturer in Canada. Rooted in precision and innovation, the company is now charting a bold new course. It’s strengthening domestic supply chains, creating skilled jobs and positioning Canada as a leader in next-generation manufacturing.

A. Berger Precision Ltd. specializes in the production of high-precision milled and machined components used in critical sectors such as automotive, aerospace, hydraulics, and industrial equipment. As part of Germany’s Berger Group, the Brampton facility plays a pivotal role in the company’s North American operations. Recognizing the need to evolve in a rapidly changing global market, A. Berger has embraced a forward-thinking strategy of investing in cutting-edge technology, diversifying its customer base, and deepening its roots in Canada. This approach has not only helped the company weather trade uncertainties and supply chain disruptions but also positioned it for long-term sustainability and growth.

In 2023, A. Berger took a major step forward with support from FedDev Ontario. A $4.7-million investment helped the company adopt advanced manufacturing technologies, and establish a new research and development centre. This was the company’s first time participating in a government funding program, and the impact has been transformative.

Alexander Berger, President, A. Berger Precision Ltd.

“FedDev Ontario funding allowed us to invest in equipment that we knew we’d need to compete in non-automotive sectors. Without it, the long lead times and high costs would have made it impossible to respond quickly to new opportunities. Having the equipment in place meant we could act fast—and that strategy has proven to be extremely successful.”

As global supply chains faced unprecedented strain, A. Berger’s ability to produce larger and more complex components at home became a strategic advantage, not just for the company, but for Canada’s manufacturing ecosystem. The facility now features state-of-the-art equipment, including a $1-million prototype machine—one of only two in Canada—that enables rapid production of intricate components. This has increased production efficiency and opened the door to new markets and applications, including medical, defence and aerospace sectors. The addition of a dedicated R&D centre has transformed the company’s approach to product development. A. Berger now offers co-engineering services and can support customers from the earliest design stages through to production. The company also partnered with McMaster University and Sheridan College on automation and inspection technologies and completed two state-of-the-art AI-driven projects.

With these expansions and improvements, A. Berger has grown its workforce with nearly 30 new skilled positions in areas such as engineering, machining, and quality control. The Brampton facility employs 16 highly skilled engineers and has quickly become a magnet for top talent. Its co-op placements through the University of Waterloo drew more than 600 applicants for just three positions. The response proves its projects are attracting the next generation of manufacturing leaders.

A. Berger’s story is a testament to the power of strategic investment and visionary leadership. By expanding its capabilities and customer base, the company has reduced its reliance on any single market or sector. In 2021, 99% of its business was automotive. As of 2025, over 7.5% is non-automotive, with projections set to double in ensuing years. This diversification has kept the company agile in the face of shifting trade dynamics and global economic uncertainty. Its strategy aligns with national priorities to strengthen domestic supply chains, foster innovation and support long-term economic development. As A. Berger continues to grow, its commitment to excellence, innovation, and sustainability will position it as a key player in Canada’s industrial future. With a strong foundation, a skilled team, and the support of partners in southern Ontario, A. Berger is poised to lead the next chapter of Canadian manufacturing — one defined by precision, progress, and purpose.
